MEDIUM: WATERCOLOR

ABOUT

John York’s paintings are documents of today tinted with a wash of nostalgia. After various artistic pursuits, he turned his attention to the beauty of his community through the avenue of watercolor and pen and ink. John also enjoys painting purely from imagination. He has illustrated several books, designed giftware, and is an accomplished guitarist and songwriter. He loves ghost stories, good coffee, cats, positive philosophies, and B-rated horror films.

Born in Tyler, John’s parents met on the city square and his grandfather, Henry York, was a local photographer in the early 1900s. He lives in the Brick Street District of Tyler with his wife, Ruth, whom he met in French class at John Tyler High School.
